This past September, I attended the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild’s Tidal Twinings retreat in Rockaway Beach, OR. As a “newbie,” it was a good experience. They organized a ride for me to and from Portland and ensured I had all the necessities for my bunkhouse life. Almost 100 people attended mostly from the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the country. It was well organized and chock full of activities from breakfast to evening programs.
I took 3 classes; Choctaw Basket with Jennifer Wool, String Bag with Lissa-Jane de Sailles, and Paper Patches with Annetta Kraayeveld. All were good experiences, I learned, created, and made new friends. I also enjoyed taking walks on the beach in the morning and evenings; a peaceful break from activity.
